As promised, I am back to reveal my further involvement in Quiltaid 2011. This year, the lovely Sarah of Quilt Fabric Delights asked me if I would design and make the finishing kit for her store for the 2011 Quiltaid quilt. I agreed, and my mind set to thinking and designing. Sarah and her beautiful stunt stitchers got to work making the 12 blocks, then my BIG stitching project began. Over the past weeks, one of the big stitching projects that I have been working on is this very special quilt top.
So without furhter ado, I am happy to reveal the Quilt Fabric Delights finished Quiltaid 2011 Quilt.
This quilt is actually REALLY big, sitting at 79 1/2 inches or just over 2 metres square, making it perfect for a Queen size bed and really tricky to take a detailed photo of as well. Therefore, I have taken some detailed photos to show you. Some are taken on my bed on a not so bright day, but I really wanted to show you the finished quilt top and how big it is too.
I started out by designing a brand new block for the centre of the quilt. I must confess that I REALLY love my centre block so so much and totally loved making it. It featured some of my very favourite things, trees, owls and bluebirds. I love my centre block and I hope you do too.
I then kept adding my pieced borders, sashings, corner squares, more pieced borders - all the while totally loving this beautiful range of fabrics. Here are some photos of the details and the quilt on my bed. Please note, these colours aren't exactly correct as it was a dull day when I took these photos - they are a little brighter and fresh in real life (and please excuse any mess in my room, I was too busy stitching for anything else!)
I must confess that I REALLY love this quilt. The fabrics were so beautiful to stitch with and the colours are just so pretty. I am thrilled that Sarah loves it too and plans to use it in her home.
If you love this quilt too and would like to finish off your Quiltaid blocks in this way, then head on over to Quilt Fabric Delights and have a chat to Sarah. I know that Sarah has limited kits available for this finishing kit, so be quick and put your name down today. I assure you, you wont regret it!
I am writing this pattern in the same way that I write all of my patterns, so there are LOTS of step by step diagrams to make quilt construction as easy as possible. All you have to do is real along and have fun!!
Yay! I am SO excited that I have finally been able to reveal this quilt top to you. I just love it and I hope you will too. xx Janelle
