Back in March our girl headed off on another Adventure, she was heading up to spend time with her bestest friend, Zali and her family. After lots of planning and excited packing, we bundled Emily and her bags into the car and all headed off to the airport. Even though this wasn't Emily's first flight, it was my first time watching her fly away, so I was quietly anxious and excited all rolled into one.
We arrived at the airport (very) early, and quickly found where we needed to be. We checked Emily in and sat waiting, watching people come and go, wondering where their journey's might take them.
We had lots of time to wait, so took some selfies. I know these silly little photos will be very precious to me for ever.
You can see Emily's anticipation in her face, she LOVES spending time with her friend but is still anxious about flying. I think she is SO brave.
Eventually it was time to head through the bag checking section (I've never been through there before), and watch as the plane landed and got ready for it's passengers. I was SO grateful it was a beautiful, clear day.
It wasn't long until my tiny little girl walked all the way onto the plane all by herself. I know to many this wouldn't be a big thing, but to me it's a big thing. I like my chickens close to home, where I know they are safe. Before I knew it, the engines fired up and the plane headed along the runway for it's takeoff.
It's strange how time goes, but Emily actually landed at her destination before we even arrived home. Plane flights sure are quick and my Mummy heart is very thankful for that. I didn't have to hold my breath for too long.
While away at her friends house, Emily had lots of adventures and so much fun spending time and being creative with Zali and Poppy. They love spending time together and always try and fit as much into their visits as possible. Zali and her family now live by the beach, so many a day was spent swimming and running in the sand. Hailey (Zali's Mum) kept me up to date with texts and photos, like this one.

Hailey, being the fantastic photographer and film maker that she is, is a constant inspiration to the girls. She set them a little challenge to make a movie together, from planning their film, filming, editing etc. When the girls showed me the finished movie that they made, I must confess there were tears. Both of pride and happiness. I was bursting with pride, the girls did the most amazing job. I thought you might like to see it too. I am so grateful that these two have found each other.

I just love this little movie so much and must confess to watching it over and over again.
Before too long, their time together was over, and Emily needed to come home. Hubby needed to pick her up in the car as she had too much luggage to bring home on a plane all by herself. Let me tell you, the poor man had a very eventful trip with a broken down car thrown into the mix. Thankfully family and friends came to his resuce and eventually, after a VERY long drive, my two weary travelers arrived home.
To keep myself busy, I cooked a baked dinner for my family to enjoy when they got home.
And then they were home, tired but happy!! I was VERY happy to have them home, safe and sound too.
Emily had the most wonderful time while away and I know she is already planning her next visit with her bestie. I am grateful for dear friends who bring so much happiness into my girls life...
