For a while now I have been collecting some of my most favourite prints to make another photo/print wall in our home. I was pretty excited to receive another of my favourite prints from Kate Mason's gorgeous etsy store, Scrapps Flea Market for my birthday from Mardi and Emily too. This one features a Fox and Rainbows, two of my favourite things.
When hubby dropped Mardi off at the airport after her recent visit, he headed off to Ikea for me (bless him) and brought home a pile of frames for my prints that I had been saving. I was very excited to start putting my prints into frames and planning my newly decorated wall.
Fast forward to yesterday when I felt I had enough framed prints to put together my photo wall. I had my trusty sidekick (Jasper) by my side, helping each step of the way too. I was pretty excited, these sort of things make me very happy!
I started with a blank wall in our kitchen, that sits above the dining table. (Our wall is currently painted a fresh green colour, I think it is called Bok Choy, however it looks more dull in this photo but you will get the idea I am sure. We will be relining, taking out walls, and repainting over the coming months so it will probably all change later on)
Then, it was time to work on the layout for the wall. We moved the frames around on the table until I was happy with how they looked and had a feel for what my wall might look like.
Now, I do like to measure however I was happy to have a little bit of a random look to how my pictures were hung as well, so starting with the four middle ones, we started measuring and hanging until they were all in place. We had to take each one off the wall as we hammered in the hanger for each picture, so it did take a while, but I was VERY happy with the end result. Here is my new photo/picture wall.
As you can see, I have a mix of prints and photos on my wall. In case you were wanting some of the same prints for your home, I will share links to the ones I can, starting from the top left (aqua frame) HERE, next is a print by Elsie Larson (sadly no longer for sale I don't think), Foxy Print, Chasing Rainbows HERE, bottom row has three photos and the caravan print is also by Kate Mason of Scrapps Flea Markets (square version) HERE. Black frames from Ikea, white frame and aqua from from the Reject Shop and the red frame from a local cheapie shop called Needful Things.
Here is another look at the corner of our kitchen, which is really our dining room I guess you could say. I just LOVE my new photo wall, it makes me happy every time I walk past. I love being able to enjoy our photos and prints on the wall rather than having them in the drawer waiting for frames too.
We are about to embark on some pretty major renovations to our home on a teeny tiny budget, so if home renovating is something that interests you, I plan on sharing each stage with you here on my blog. I think it will be fun to document and share all that we do to make our little house into our dream home.
So there you have our new photo/print wall in our kitchen. I have another little collection of prints and canvases to go beside my bed but that will wait until after we renovate I think. It's so much fun gather together and display collections of things that I love in our home. It does make me very happy.
Do you have a little corner of your home that makes you happy? Do you like to gather together little collections of favourite things to display? I'd love to hear about how you display things in your home...
