Lately and a sneak peek...

As those who run their own business will probably understand, my designing and business never leave my head. It travels with me wherever I go and is I am known to scribble designs on little pieces of paper to be sure that I don't forget my thoughts and ideas at the time. I find inspiration all over the place.

Lately I have needed to take a step back from my business and designing. Don't get me wrong, I still love what I do and my designing was still in my head but I needed to take some time, reassess and find some balance. While it might not look like I have released a lot of patterns lately, my list of ideas has continued to grow and my mind has been consumed with all things 'The Janelle Wind Collection'. What I needed to do however was spend some time with my family and just be a Mum and a wife for a little while.

I was reminded that these few years with my children will be gone in the blink of an eye, they will be grown and moving on to create families of their own. I wanted to take some time to chat with them, play games, sing silly songs, hold their hands and cook them yummy foods that would normally only be saved for special occasions.

The last few weeks I have done just that. Other than my classes I took a little break from stitching. Initially I started my business for two reasons, to share what I love and also so that I could be at home with my kids as much as possible. For me, I needed to remember that I needed to be present, make sure I was concentrating and hearing what my kids had to say.

So I have made yummy things to eat that would normally be saved for a special occasion, we have held hands, made silly movies together and just hung out together at home. I have taken time to enjoy doing the dishes while looking into my backyard and captured some beautiful sunsets on film too. It has been wonderful and a time that was very necessary for me.

Today with renewed enthusiasm, I headed back to my studio to put some finishing touches on my latest design. I am very excited to be releasing my first 'Creative Cards' very soon. Please know that each of my designs comes from my heart, and each of my patterns that you buy are sent off with a little piece of me in them - each design is something that is special to me and something I want to share with you. I take my role as pattern writer very seriously and do my very best to give you the best product I can and ultimatly have the experience of using one of my patterns be positive and enjoyable for you too. Here is a little sneak peek of my first Creative Card - coming very soon. (this is part of it anyway hehe, there is more to come).

I have a lot of stitching ahead of me, I am ready to dive in head first once again but I will be sure to take extra time with my family, be present and have no regrets. Life is too short and I want to cherish every moment with my family that I can while sharing what I love. Back soon to share more sneak peeks and snippets from my family and life too... xx Janelle
